Standards and Governance
Renewable energy projects succeed or fail on governance as much as on technology. PSE's environmental and social work follows the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework, the benchmark against which donor-financed renewable schemes in Nigeria are assessed — covering ESIA, stakeholder engagement, land acquisition and livelihoods restoration, and contractor compliance, disciplines our teams practise daily on World Bank and IFAD programmes. Engineering duties during design and construction are administered under FIDIC forms, including the Yellow Book for plant and design-build procurement typical of solar farms and mini-hydro packages, with the Red Book applied where we act as the engineer for civil works. All design work is led by COREN-registered engineers, and our quality management system to ISO 9001 has commenced implementation — we say this accurately: certification is not yet held, and documented procedures are available for client review. Structural design of generation assets, mounting structures and powerhouse buildings references Eurocode and British Standards where appropriate. This governance stack — safeguards, contract discipline and documented quality — is what distinguishes serious renewable energy consultants in Nigeria from equipment vendors offering turnkey promises.
